Dermal fillers make use of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in our skin—to lift and plump skin. While you can get fillers for your entire face, they can also be injected to lift and reshape certain areas of your face like your jaw and your chin.

The natural fillers are injected in small controlled doses just under the surface of the skin to fill out sunken areas and lines, boost collagen production and give a smoother, firmer and more refreshed appearance. They’re a popular anti-aging treatment of choice due to their low maintenance nature and natural-looking results.

Dermal fillers can help instantly plump dull, sallow skin and reduce visible signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles. There’s barely any downtime associated with the treatment and the fact that the results aren’t permanent allows you to experiment with just how much you need.

They help add volume to your skin and make it appear fuller and more youthful. We use fillers to make you look younger in a natural way. We go about it in a gently transformative way to keep you looking like you. We hate the pillow face and the new Russian lips trends or the overfilled cheeks.

Instead, we want you to have a natural look and want no one to be able to tell you have had fillers, unless you want them to know.

We want to make sure that you’re happy with the way you look in person, in front of the camera or even on Instagram and address your concerns for the same to combine all your needs at once.

Dermal fillers aren’t a permanent solution for lines, wrinkles and skin folds. While they will temporarily make your skin appear younger, it’s important that you follow a skincare routine to meet your requirements and treat your skin.

They also do not help to reduce pigmentation, sun damage, active acne and dark spots. It’s important that you acknowledge the temporary nature of the treatment before signing up for it and discuss more permanent options with your aesthetician if that’s what you’re after.

Dermal fillers are made of gel-like substances, the most popular choice being hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid naturally occurs in our body as well, giving you the plump and hydrated look.

Over the years, your body starts to produce less of this acid as you age and that starts to show in the form of signs of aging such as dehydration, sagging skin and fine lines and wrinkles.

This is why, when you religiously apply hyaluronic acid topically or get a dermal filler, your skin starts to look younger and more nourished.

Fillers may sound intimidating but there’s no reason to fret, especially when you’ve got access to a pro aesthetician like Dr Kiran Sethi working on your skin. The fillers we use such as Juvederm®, Boletero and Restylane® are completely natural and made of hyaluronic acid. Here’s how they differ from each other.

Juvederm®

If you have long standing wrinkles and lines, Juvederm® is the better choice to fill them in since it’s injected deeper into your skin. The results last for about 1-2 years depending on the specific product used from their range.

Boletero

While Belotero is quite similar to Juvederm®, it’s a better pick than the former to target subtle lines and wrinkles due to its low density. It also contains lidocaine which is an anesthetic and makes the procedure more comfortable.

Boletero is injected in the top layers of your skin’s dermis, unlike Juvederm® which works on the deeper layers. The results last for about 6-12 months depending on the product used.

Restylane®

Restylane® is very similar in nature to Boletero and they’re both used for similar filler treatments. Restylane® is considered to be a good option for filling in delicate areas like around the mouth and for superficial lines and wrinkles.

It’s important to choose the right skin specialist especially when signing up for treatments. Your aesthetician should genuinely want to give you the best results for your concerns, as opposed to making you sign up for treatments that will rack up a big bill without doing anything substantial for your skin.

It’s important that you discuss the treatment you’re interested in with your skin specialist and also ask them about other options they may be able to offer you.

A good aesthetician will give you the options before you even bring them up yourself; it’s all about making the right choice of expert by yourself.

At ISYA Aesthetics, our clients come first and we ensure that we give you the most aesthetically pleasing option for your skin’s needs.

Every skin consultation begins with a skin analysis by Dr Kiran Sethi, no matter the treatment you walk in for. For dermal fillers, Dr Sethi will analyse the lines, folds, hollows and wrinkles you want to fill and make a recommendation on the best next steps forward.

She will also suggest any other treatments that may be better suited to meet your skin’s needs after assessing it. Once you both have decided to go ahead with a dermal filler, she will schedule an appointment for your treatment, advise you on pre-treatment care, what to expect while it happens and give you details on post-treatment care so you’re fully informed before you opt for it.

It’s important that you let your aesthetician know about any facials or laser treatments you may have planned before your appointment to get your dermal fillers.

Make sure you avoid using retinol or any AHAs and BHAs for at least 48 hours before your filler treatment. Also, avoid caffeine and alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment.

Do not use any hair removal products or wax or tweeze your face 48 hours prior as well. If you’re on any medication that includes a blood thinner, inform your aesthetician so they can request you to stop or alter that course just before your treatment.

Getting a dermal filler may sound daunting, but it’s a fairly straightforward and painless process. Once you and your aesthetician have decided on the exact points that need to be injected, a comprehensive plan is created for the procedure.

Numbing cream is applied if required, and then your skin is injected with the filler in small doses and gently massaged in place.

The entire procedure takes between 30-40 minutes and the results can also be micro-reversed on request so that results can be titrated perfectly.

Expect younger looking skin that appears plumper and more hydrated, possibly even altered facial features if that’s what you signed up for.

It is a minimally invasive treatment with natural looking results thanks to our Le Beau Ideal concept of working on your face and allowing the results to be as close to your natural look as possible.

The longevity of your dermal fillers depends on the exact filler used, the area it’s been injected in and your metabolism. They can last anywhere between 6 – 24 months.

Our fillers have also lasted long to heal acne scars, using our signature technique. If you’d specifically like to have the kind that last the longest, make sure you discuss that with your aesthetician in advance.

Dermal fillers are made of natural hyaluronic acid that is safely injected into your skin to plump and hydrate it. There are no side effects associated with it as long as all safety precautions are followed.

You may only experience slight redness or swelling for up to a week after your treatment is done which is the duration of recovery.

Dermal fillers do not have weeks of downtime associated with them, making them the perfect treatment to get at any given point. You may experience some redness, bruising or mild swelling around the areas that have been injected for 3-7 days.

If you’re not 100% happy with your results post recovery, we can reverse the procedure or alter it as well to give you the desired result.

If you are on blood thinning medication, you can still get the fillers but will be more prone to bruising so it’s best that you check with your aesthetician before making your appointment.

If you are pregnant, you should definitely avoid dermal fillers. It’s always ideal to inform your skin doctor of any medical conditions you may be dealing with in case they were to react with your treatment.

If you’re getting  yourself vaccinated against Covid-19, inform the doctor of that as well since certain vaccines can cause temporary swelling. If you have a history with allergies, this is vital information for your doctor as well.

Fillers do not require you to make any lifestyle changes. Following a dermatologist-prescribed skincare routine will make sure that the results last as long as they’re supposed to without dissolving before time.

There is no way to prolong the effects of dermal fillers. It is important to make sure that you follow all instructions for post treatment care shared by your aesthetician to ensure they last as long as they promise and to make sure they look as good as they did at the time of injecting.
